We understand the volume of construction may be somewhat disruptive, but we are working very closely with our development partners, contractors, and the City of Charles Sturt to minimise the impact to residents and businesses.
South Australia, like the rest of the nation, is in the midst of a housing crisis. We have a unique opportunity to bring forward the delivery of more homes, including a large number of affordable housing options to support more South Australians into homes sooner.
There have been concurrent developments occurring within the Bowden precinct since it first started in 2008.
At times, certain areas may be subject to road closures to support construction access to development sites. Builders, in conjunction with the City of Charles Sturt will provide prior notification to those impacted by closures.
The City of Charles Sturt is responsible for all public areas within Bowden. You can report excess rubbish or damage to public areas via the City of Charles Sturt Customer Portal.
Construction noise is limited to 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Saturday. Details and exemptions can be accessed via the City of Charles Sturt.
Renewal SA is the master developer of Bowden, seeking to curate private investment to help deliver the vision for Bowden. Since acquiring the former Clipsal manufacturing facility in 2008, Renewal SA has led the transformation of this former industrial land into a vibrant, mixed-use community where South Australians can live, work and play.
Renewal SA continues to guide the development of the remaining development parcels in the Clipsal portion of the Bowden precinct – ensuring the projects and their designs are consistent with Bowden’s vision.
The majority of works are anticipated to be nearing completion in the next 18 to 24 months. Beyond this timeline, construction activity will still be underway on final development sites at Bowden and across the Brompton Gasworks site, for the next decade.
Renewal SA has held a long-term vision to see the former Brompton Gasworks site remediated and transformed into a vibrant, healthy and active area as an extension of the Bowden redevelopment.
Following an open and public competitive tender process, MAB Corporation was selected for the acquisition, remediation, and development of the historic land parcel.
Sales and construction work is set to begin this year. MAB plans to deliver a master-planned village made up of over 800 new homes, including a heritage retail precinct, short stay accommodation and public open spaces.

If you have any concerns about work occurring within the Bowden precinct, you can report an issue or request a service via the City of Charles Sturt Customer Portal. The portal allows you to track progress in real-time, keeping you informed every step of the way. We appreciate your patience and support as Bowden continues to grow.
