2023 has begun with purpose at Bowden, with MAB Corporation progressing its first development application with the State Planning Commission for approval to start remediation works at the former Brompton Gasworks site.
The Gasworks site – bounded by the Outer Harbor Railway Line, Drayton, Chief and Second Streets – is currently one of the state’s most contaminated land parcels. As part of its successful bid to transform the Gasworks site into an active and vibrant mixed-use precinct, MAB committed to removing this source contamination and carry out the necessary remediation to ensure the site is clean and safe for future communities to live, work and play.
Neighbouring residents have this week received a standard planning notification letter informing them of MAB’s application to commence earthworks associated with the remediation and assemble temporary tent structures to help safely undertake this work.
More information about MAB’s remediation process can be found in FAQs hereand the details lodged with the State Planning Commission can be viewedhere.
MAB’s work on the draft Brompton Gasworks Masterplan will continue concurrently with site remediation, with plenty of opportunities for community input and information sharing on matters such as open space and heritage preservation to come.
We look forward to sharing further updates about the Brompton Gasworks Masterplan with you as detail becomes available from MAB.
