Bloomin’ Good Cafe

Bloomin' Good Cafe

Just a short stroll from the streets of Bowden is newly opened cafe, Bloom. Brought to us by the dream team of Peter Rabbit on Hindley Street, this new hotspot is a light, airy breath of fresh air in industrial Thebarton.

Much like the apartments here in Bowden, Bloom seamlessly blends the indoors with the outdoors, taking the former tram warehouse from dreary to ethereal. The interior design by award-winning local architects Sans-Arc Studio will leave you awestruck. The venue spans the block, with an abundance of spacious outdoor dining for all those perfect spring days to come.

Now to the important part, the food. The menu touches on several world regions with a massive focus on locally sourced produce. You’ll see the open plan woodfire kitchen almost immediately as you stroll through the wide-open french doors, which adds its special touch to many dishes on the menu. We loved the charcoal chicken with yellow curry yoghurt but the wood-roasted pumpkin with almond ricotta looked spectacular too.

For brunching, you’ll find jazzed-up takes on the traditional, like smashed avo on toast accompanied by woodfired tomatoes, macadamia and dark choc granola or a big breakfast; which you can wash down with the strawberry mimosa.

Due to the owners’ regional farm backgrounds, they place a heavy emphasis on growing their own produce, wherever possible. As was the priority with Peter Rabbit, sourcing as locally as they can has become a key business objective for Bloom. So much so, they have purchased a large piece of land in Woodville with the sole purpose to grow produce for the cafe. Fortunately, owner Jack is quite the green thumb.

The rest of the ownership team (James, James, Jackson and Dan) have brought their extensive hospitality knowledge to the space, meaning attentive, friendly staff, great coffee, inventive dishes and a general ‘vibe’ of good times.

Beyond the cafe, the team want Bloom to be a welcoming event space, which shouldn’t be too challenging with the beautiful fit out already drawing in several wedding bookings.

If you have a brunch or lunch that you want to be that little bit more high end, Bloom is should be next on your list.

Located at 38 Winwood Street, Thebarton and with cafe open Wednesday to Sunday 8am – 4pm.
