We hope that you and your families are all staying safe during the current state-wide lockdown.
Whilst we are not physically on site and construction momentum has temporarily halted, we wanted to take the opportunity to update our community on a few exciting developments at Bowden.
Bowden is currently experiencing an all-time high with the upswing in homeownership in South Australia and a growing appetite for connected living close to the city generating unprecedented momentum and sparking a major shift in our delivery approach.
The success of the Nightingale apartments release selling out in 24-hours and all of the townhouses known as the Guild Terraces now being sold and settled, demonstrates the desire for a diversity of housing choices and high level of interest in joining our community.
It’s an incredibly exciting time as we look to complete the next chapter in the Bowden success story with the upcoming development of two and three-storey townhouses at Lot 3001 Third Street Bowden, and a suite of 24 off-the-plan townhouses on the corner of Drayton and Second Streets soon to be released. While Bowden’s new architecturally-designed childcare centre is due for completion in early 2022. Keep an eye out on our social media channels for updates.
Whilst Plant 3 has unfortunately had a rocky start, we are thrilled that a new microbrewery, restaurant, hairdresser, florist and licensed event space will be in full swing soon. In the meantime, many businesses within Plant 3 and Plant 4 as well as Jarmer’s Kitchen, and surrounding businesses are offering takeaway options during this lockdown.
We are also delighted to share with you that yesterday we released the Registration of Interest for the former Brompton Gasworks site – also known as the Bowden Heritage Precinct. Through this open market process, we are seeking a visionary development partner who will create a vibrant mixed-use precinct that blends heritage, sustainability and most importantly community in a way that integrates and complements the broader Bowden redevelopment project.
The Gasworks site represents a major development opportunity – both for Bowden and the State. This 5.81-hectare land parcel forms a key part of Bowden’s history and its future transformation.
Renewal SA is committed to ensuring key stakeholders – and in particular the local community – are engaged throughout the various phases of the project’s development and delivery to ensure they are given adequate opportunity to understand and, where appropriate, influence the intended outcomes.
We thank the many community members who have already shared their thoughts and ideas with us as part of previous community engagement initiatives. This feedback remains important as we look towards the best outcomes for Bowden.
Unfortunately, the current COVID lockdown has hindered our ability to deliver our InFocus newsletter to letterboxes in our community as planned today. It is now published online for all to read.
In this update, you will find out all about the former Gasworks site including:
- Why we are releasing the Registration of Interest now: capitalising on momentum and current market interest
- The process: outlining how it will work
- What we are looking for: identifying the best development partner to complement and enhance what is already there
- Community engagement: how you can stay involved and provide feedback.
