Bowden’s Plant 4 will burst into life this Saturday with a massive celebration to officially unveil the converted industrial warehouse and impressive line-up of creative and sustainable producers and retailers.

The celebration will also provide a preview of the weekly markets – taking inspiration from the Ceres Group’s highly successful Market Shed on Holland – to be held every Wednesday (3pm – 8pm) and Saturday (8am – 2pm), from November.

Bowden Town Square – comprising Plant 4 and Bowden Park – will be officially opened on Saturday 29 October from 2pm to 8pm in a day filled of food, live music and entertainment.

The free celebrations include Cirkidz circus workshops, an Instagram booth, Henna and face painting, Dig A Dino, EcoCaddy rides, vintage vehicles, a Bowden photography exhibition, a bubble artist and roving entertainment. The live music line-up includes The Timbers and Banjo Jackson.

Jono Kaitatzis from the Ceres Market Shed Group says they’ve secured a great mix of appealing retailers for Plant 4, including Beach Organics, The Lost Loaf and Voula’s Village Fare.

“The Bowden Town Square Opening will share the first glimpse of what will be on offer at Plant 4 over the next few months,” Jono says.

“Bowden IGA is already up and running and what a lot of fun it has been setting it up. Our new community has been so generous in its welcome.

“The next stage we are ready to roll out is the laneway. Lilly Pilly Lane will be about relaxing with a bunch of passionate people all wanting to share their time and wares with you. All these lovely souls are a little nervous and apprehensive and yet at the same time incredibly excited of what is about to unfold for them.

“People such as Barry and Melanie of ‘Beach Organics’, starting their first coffee, spice and eatery store.

“Emma of ‘The Lost Loaf’ will be baking delicious pastries and amazing breads in the mezzanine bakery then selling her wares in her shop downstairs.

“Voula and Nick of ‘Voula’s Village Fare’ beginning a new cafe together, centred around an expression of their inherited cultural Greek background in food and their love of the Australian lifestyle.

“Pas and Joe from San Jose Charcuterie… watch their space. Something new and unique will be springing up right outside their front door.

“This together with some of The Market Shed favourites and a few exciting newbies, should all make for a lot of fun.”

Renewal SA Bowden project director Alicia Davidge says there will be a great range of pop up food and drink in Plant 4 plus food trucks fronting the recently completed Bowden Park.

“Bring all your friends and family and join us for an afternoon filled with incredible food and cuisine, live music and entertainment for all ages,” Alicia says. “It’s going to be a great day, so bring everyone you know and enjoy the new heart of Bowden.

“As well as gourmet food markets in Plant 4, there’ll be an oyster bar, burgers, pizzas, paella, cheese, Greek and Japanese cuisine and an array of cakes and sweets.”

Plant 4 will have a huge selection of pop up stalls including Bob Bowls, Bochica, Chocolique, Cikolatte, CocoaNuts, East End Flower Market, Francesco’s Cicchetti, Harborganics, Juan’s Paella, Juice Quest, Live a Little Gelato, Mazzi’s Kitchen, Milkless, Ozzie Gozleme, Parwana Afghan Kitchen, Sage and Sofia, Sweet Nectar, The Tea Catcher, The Woofery Dog Bakery, Voula’s Village Fare, Wild and Gathered.

Beer, wine, sangria and cocktails will be available in Plant 4 and Bowden Park while mocktails, juices and smoothies will be available throughout the day in Bowden Park. Bowden Park comprises approximately 5,000 square metres in the heart of Bowden landscaped with trees, grassed areas and feature gardens. The new park features public art, picnic facilities, and interactive play and water elements.

The official opening ceremony will be held at 2.30pm by Housing and Urban Development Minister Stephen Mullighan and City of Charles Sturt Mayor Angela Evans.
