National developer to construct second apartment project at Bowden development

23 Nov 2016

Nationally renowned builder Hindmarsh Development will build a second apartment project at Bowden employing up to 150 workers on site at the peak of construction.

Hindmarsh Development was chosen to purchase 1,100sqm on Fifth Street at the award-winning city fringe development through an expression of interest process.

The site could house up to 50 dwellings – comprising of one, two and three bedroom apartments, many of which will offer breathtaking views – as well as a basement carpark.

Bowden has been recognised as having the highest concentration of Green Star residential buildings anywhere in Australia Bowden and the new apartments will help to maintain that mantle by meeting 5-Star Green Star principles of sustainability.

The project will be Hindmarsh’s second residential development at Bowden, with construction of ‘The Bowery’ well underway and due for completion in early 2017.

Bowden’s retail precinct is also nearing completing with a boutique IGA supermarket already open in the 2000m2 Plant 4, with speciality shops and markets set to add to the vibrancy.

A new 5,000m2 central park in the heart of Bowden has just been completed featuring public art, picnic facilities and interactive play and water elements.

Background

More than 250 homes have been built across 10 apartment and terrace developments at Bowden and more than 450 homes have been sold since the project began in 2012.

The former Clipsal and Origin Gasworks site will eventually be home to approximately 3,500 residents in more than 2400 homes, equating to about $740 million in private investment.

Hindmarsh Development estimates that up to 150 workers will be on the site at the peak of construction, which is expected to take 18 months.

Hindmarsh’s neighbouring project The Bowery is a 7-storey, 54-apartment development with medium density housing which will also meet 5-Star Green Star sustainability principles.

Hindmarsh is renowned locally and internationally for project and construction management, with previous projects including the Ergo Apartments and the South Australian Health Medical and Research Institute (SAHMRI).
