New developer appointed to Bowden development project

28 Mar 2013

A new developer has been appointed to deliver more apartments for the State Government’s $1.1 billion Bowden development, building on the successful sell out of the first two apartment buildings.

Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Tom Koutsantonis said Tagara is expected to release a further 35 architecturally-designed apartments for off-the-plan purchase by mid-year.

“The modern apartments that continue to be delivered at Bowden represent a new approach to living and the creation of a sustainable mixed community,” Mr Koutsantonis said. “The Bowden development is shaping up as one of the most significant urban developments in South Australia’s history so this is an exciting announcement for the project and Renewal SA.”

“The Bowden development is shaping up as one of the most significant urban developments in South Australia’s history so this is an exciting announcement for the project and Renewal SA.”

Renewal SA Chief Executive, Fred Hansen said construction activities at Bowden are progressing well, including the near completion of the first public park and walkable streets, which formally open in April.

“Bowden is really building momentum and demand continues to grow, which is why today we have released our fourth package of opportunities to the development and building industry,” Mr Hansen said.

“Renewal SA have responded to market feedback and have created a simpler, more flexible approach for developers at Bowden, which ensures quality homes and multiple living options for the public.”

The development will eventually comprise more than 2,400 homes for about 3,500 new residents and provide opportunities for new and expanding business within a vibrant, walkable community close to the city.

Mr Koutsantonis said the strong sales at Bowden are a positive sign of things to come, not only for the South Australian property market but also for this modern style of urban living.

“Bowden is fast becoming a showcase of the benefits of higher-density living,” he said.

“A high proportion of owner-occupiers are showing a real interest in the community and convenient lifestyle being offered at Bowden.

“This Government is also offering significant assistance to first home buyers through the Housing Construction Grants, the First Home Owners Grant and stamp duty concession that combined can save up to $39,830 on a property.”
