Renewal SA’s very own Alexander ‘Sandy’ Rix was named Australia’s Planner of the Year 2014 at the Planning Institute of Australia’s (PIA) Annual Awards for Planning Excellence last night, 19 March 2014 at a gala dinner in Sydney.
A prominent South Australian planning professional, Sandy was also previously awarded the title, SA’s Planner of the Year 2013 in November last year.
Sandy Rix has been integral in the planning for many of Renewal SA’s projects, more recently Bowden and the Greater Riverbank Precinct.
The judges remarked that Sandy’s list of achievements displayed the diversity of projects and roles planning professionals can become involved in, which in turn reflects his background and skills in planning and economic development, experience in public and private sectors and different roles over many years.
The PIA Awards for Planning Excellence program starts with entries at State and Territory level with winning planning projects going on to compete at a national level.
The awards and commendations announced in Sydney last night cover planning projects from all Australian States and the ACT.
