Renewal SA Works Program: Bike Rack Live Training Site

Renewal SA’s Works Program proudly supports training and employment initiatives for local people.

The Bike Rack Live Training Site Program is being delivered at Ottoway in partnership with Adelaide Training & Employment Centre (ATEC), Renewal SA and WorkReady.

Participants will be designing, fabricating and installing bike racks in Bowden.

An engineering qualification can lead to careers in fitting and machining, mechanical fitter, boilermaker – metal fabrication (light or heavy) and entry to diesel fitting.

About the program

Specifically targeting local people aged 17 or over within Bowden and surrounding western suburbs, participants should be motivated, enthusiastic, have an interest in engineering and not be currently enrolled in school.

This program will:

  • deliver a Certificate II in Engineering (MEM20105)
  • provide hands on experience in thermal cutting, arc welding and the use of hand and power tools
  • provide skills development and basic knowledge required for a career in the Engineering trades
  • provide a two week work experience placement within industry.

This program will commence on Monday, 11 April 2016 and run full-time for 10 weeks of training (Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday 8:00am – 2:30pm), followed by 2 weeks of work placement.

Eligibility criteria apply.

Driver’s license highly regarded.

Cost

Subsidised through the WorkReady Jobs First STL Projects 2015–2016.

Participants to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
