Sixteen new apartments have today been released for off-the-plan sales at the State Government’s $1 billion Bowden development.
The one- and two-bedroom apartments, located on the corner of Seventh Street and Park Terrace are being released by Build Tec Group, which has partnered with Unity Housing in the first key worker building project at Bowden.
The key worker housing project brings together the construction and not-for-profit sectors to provide a mixed-tenure building that provides 16 apartments for public sale.
An additional 26 apartments are then retained for rental to key workers including in essential services such as police, fire and ambulance, health services, childcare, education and other workers in community support services.
Priced between $370,000 and $420,000, these new apartments offer an outstanding opportunity to reside within this flagship walkable urban neighbourhood located close to the city and easily accessed by train, tram and bicycle and walking paths.
Minister for Housing and Urban Development Tom Koutsantonis said it is essential the Bowden project provide affordable accommodation close to the city for key workers.
“Bowden’s key worker building is designed for workers in sectors that contribute to the health and social wellbeing of local communities, such as nurses and police officers,” he said.
“Open walkways and gardens connecting the apartments, centred around an open-air communal space is a key design feature of these new residential offerings.
“One of Bowden development’s unique innovations includes the obligation to meet Green Building Council of Australia’s 5-Star Green Star design requirements.
“This building meets that aim through ample natural light, open walkways, large overhangs and healthy airflow that reduces the need for air-conditioning and cuts power costs.”
Purchasers of Bowden off-the-plan apartments can benefit from the $8,500 construction grant and the State Government’s stamp duty concessions of up to $21,330.
Spanning 16 hectares, Bowden is South Australia’s first large-scale, higher-density urban development. More than 2,400 homes will ultimately be built for about 3,500 residents over 15 years with opportunities for businesses to operate in a vibrant community close to the CBD.
